What an awesome experience. The spa is located in a small parking lot with a few other shops so we parked on the street. The owner Tricia was very friend along with her daughter who helped us out there. Hubs and I loved the spa itself.. Very quaint and had a nice relaxing vibe. We absolutely loved the extra large private candle-lit heated pool. We were able to float around and drink the champagne they offered us before going into our massages. We then headed upstairs for our couples massage. Kristine massaged my husband who has a shoulder injury. Kristine was great at avoiding the injured area but also applying enough pressure for a great massage. Tricia was my massage therapist also great and had a nice breathing pattern that helped me relax even more. They used warm towels to wrap our face and feet. Loved that!!! We will definitely be back!!!
My wife and I enjoyed a 90 minute couple’s massage at Aqua while in town over the Memorial Day weekend. She called and spoke with Tricia and was able to go “off menu” and set up a customized treatment just for us. It was incredible! Definately would recommend.
*** A little tip- we were staying in Downtown Monterey during this visit. We walked down to Portola Plaza and rented Electric Bikes for the day which we rode to our appointment at Aqua (made climbing up the hill a breeze!). Afterwards, we explored Pacific Grove and made our way to Cannery Row for a late lunch. Great way to see the local area with a little adventure.
I LOVE THIS PLACE.
I found Tricia through a Groupon. I damaged my shoulders and my doctor recommended I get a deep tissue massage. Never having experienced one before, Tricia told me what to expect. She’s hilarious. She told me a story about how her daughter said her new business cards should read “Hate me now, Love me tomorrow”. If you haven’t had a deep tissue massage, it can be quite intense, but Tricia will remind you to relax and help you breathe through it.
I’ve been back several times now. The relaxation pool is amazing and they’ll customize the temperature to what you prefer. They provide towels, robes, and sandals to wear around. The treatment rooms are clean, very comfortable, and relaxing. The spa also has a little shopping area with great makeup. Definitely try the chapstick.
Destiny, Tricia’s daughter, works the front desk. She’s polite, helpful, and professional. They make you feel like one of the family. They are all really wonderful and friendly.
When you’re leaving, you get a square of dark chocolate!
More proof that good things come in small packages. This intimate day spa hidden to the side of a small group of buildings on a busy avenue is easy to miss but it was the best find of my entire visit to Monterey! I was in town for a wedding and after traveling a red-eye from the East Coast complete with lost luggage crises, I knew I needed to find some way to rid myself of the stress. This place looked great because it had private soaking and massage in one package. It was perfect and I couldn’t believe my good fortune in having the place to myself on a Friday afternoon. The water, treated without chlorine, was deliciously warm and the pool was large enough to float and stretch in. It was super blissful. Then came the massage with Tricia and she made me wished I could see her every month. I have been getting therapeutic massage for 30 years and she is one of less than a handful people who have truly impressed me with their knowledge of anatomy, strength and skill. I can’t recommend her highly enough. Help these guys stay in business! Every town should be so lucky.
Very nice spa! I’ve sampled the menu over a period of time. Tricia is an excellent massage therapist with very strong hands for deep tissue. Lila is a sweet and knowledgable esthetician with soft even energy. I’ve gotten facial and microdermabrasion and very pleased with results. They use all organic skin care. Ive also had body scrubs and wraps. The coconut guava wrap is amazing!! My favorite service is the shirodhara treatment for opening the third eye and promoting deep relaxation. It’s a warm oil slowly dripped in between eyes then they walk your limp noodle body to the sauna to veg out in complete bliss. It’s the ultimate escape!! Love love love. They also have a private warm soaking pool that’s chest deep you can lounge in full monty style. There is also massage they do in the pool called Watsu. I think I’ll try that…….but def with a swimsuit.
I don’t yelp much, as it takes an impressive service……..or horrendous one to get me on here to write a review. I have been back to Aqua Wellness pretty much weekly since my last review. Tricia has been my massage therapist all but that first visit. She is the best! My job is torture on my shoulders and back, and I’ve been through at least 15-20 therapists. Tricia is by far better than all the others. The soak pool and sauna is a perfect precursor to the massage, and she is good at working with my schedule as I have to rearrange appointments a lot at the last minute.
